Workforce skills gaps are something I hear about every day when I talk to our customers. Sometimes it is positions they cannot fill or someone who has retired and left, and their years of knowledge has left with them.
Most of our customers are aware that we offer instructor-led training but trying to find the right class that is offered exactly when and where they need it is not always practical. Some customers develop their own customized curriculum working in partnership with us at Rexel and Rockwell and offer multiple weeks of training to level set new employees. We offer pre- and post-testing, and the results speak for themselves. This is a great and creative approach, but what is next for these employees or for companies who do not have the ability to do something on this scale?
Fortunately, Rockwell developed a self-learning, subscription-based training platform for employees to do at their own pace called Learning +. Sound interesting? It really is. Students can take courses on their own or supervisory dashboards can be set up to assign and monitor progress.
The Learning + subscription has been around for a few years and is available to any customer who has access to a Rockwell contract. The cost is based on whether the student wants the entire catalog of courses for a year or just one course for 90 days.
For those who want more interaction, our hybrid virtual classroom sessions provide the opportunity for live instruction, and the chance to ask questions and receive feedback. Our office hours provide additional support, allowing employees to receive one-on-one coaching from experienced instructors. This, coupled with the self-paced training, allows the student to feel confident that their questions are answered.
This year, the Learning + subscription has grown to include the enhanced version, which provides access to more than 140 hours of craft skill training. This includes electrical, mechanical, maintenance, instrumentation, math, and science. We now have a very well-rounded offering in this subscription model.
